Oh! Weep for Those

1. 1Oh! weep for those that wept by Babel's stream,
2. 2Whose shrines are desolate, whose land a dream;
3. 3Weep for the harp of Judah's broken shell;
4. 4Mourn--where their God hath dwelt the godless dwell!

1. 5And where shall Israel lave her bleeding feet?
2. 6And when shall Zion's songs again seem sweet?
3. 7And Judah's melody once more rejoice
4. 8The hearts that leaped before its heavenly voice?

1. 9Tribes of the wandering foot and weary breast,
2. 10How shall ye flee away and be at rest!
3. 11The wild-dove hath her nest, the fox his cave,
4. 12Mankind their country--Israel but the grave!
